Resides: St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada

These photographs represent my current evolving body of landscape work. Simple structures, whose beauty is more difficult to find in the surrounding landscape, continue to interest me. I work in areas of the province that I have been familiar with since childhood and it is this familiarity that gives me more room to respond to subtle things as opposed to the overwhelming reaction one has in an unfamiliar environment. I have come to realize that it is subtle intrusion into the landscape that interests me such as stone cracked by freezing and thawing due to exposure to the elements, simple pole lines breaking a simple horizon with almost indistinguishable tonal qualities, or a subtle bike trail where normally one would only consider the romantic imagery of the breakwater. The landscape remains in control. Elements that result from our intrusion do not represent any real permanence.
